Patrick Sarmiere, Ph.D.

Patrick D. Sarmiere, Ph.D., is the Senior Vice President of Non‑clinical Research at IRulya Therapeutics, where he leads nonclinical strategy and translational development across the company’s pulmonary vascular and fibrotic lung disease programs. A pharmacologist by training, Dr. Sarmiere brings nearly two decades of experience advancing discovery and IND‑enabling studies for small molecules, biologics, and RNA‑based therapeutics.

Dr. Sarmiere has contributed to multiple regulatory milestones throughout his career, including IND submissions, NDA filings, and BLA‑supporting programs. Before joining IRulya, he held senior R&D leadership roles at Ovid Therapeutics and Acorda Therapeutics and served as an independent consultant to both emerging and established biotechnology companies. Across these roles, he led multidisciplinary teams responsible for translational pharmacology, toxicology, and biomarker strategy, supporting programs in rare disease, cardiopulmonary biology, and RNA‑targeted therapeutics, as well as collaborations with academic investigators, CROs, and government partners.
